I was wondering, why UVM doesn't have football anymore? I know that they sponsored the sport until 1974. Is there any interest in getting the sport back at any time?

There is definately interest as they started a club level team a few years ago in the hopes it could be brought back as a varsity level sport down the road, like Castleton did. When I was a kid my only real memory was that the football Cats were not very good.

There was a story in today's Free Press that the UVM club football team is now undefeated and ranked first in the nation in club football.

I used to go to UVM football games in the early '70s; they played in the old Yankee Conference, against Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut, and often against Boston University and Norwich (VT) Academy ( military); they were usually near the bottom of the pack, thus a 4-5 record was reason for celebration...
