Does anyone know anyone living at any of the Cathedral Square senior housing apartments in the Burlington area? Specifically, I am interested in information on the 55+ housing complexes: Whitney Hill in Williston, Town Meadow in Essex and Heineberg Senior Housing in Burlington's new North End. I am 60 years old and on the waiting list for a tax-credit apartment ( IF I can EVER sell this house.) I live in the Upper Valley, but want to stay in Vermont. I like the Burlington area a great deal, and there are no comparable tax-credit apartments where I live that allow pets ( a cat and a dog.) I find it harder and harder to manage the house maintenance (I have RA), and can't afford to pay anyone to mow the lawn and shovel the snow. I have mixed feelings about going into senior housing, even though the apartments are independent living. You can tour these facilities but you never know until you live in a complex what it will be like. It's either that or rent a regular apartment in my area, since I could never afford Burlington rent if it wasn't a tax-credit senior unit. I will have to make a decision when an apartment becomes available; at that point I will have to apply for a short sale with my lender to get out of the house. I have read enough here to realize that I really don't want to rent it out! So I am wondering if anyone has any experience with these properties.....thanks!
