Officially accepted a job in Burlington and will be looking to start a lease that begins sometime in November (a long way out, I know). I've been looking in the Burlington/Colchester/Winooski area, as I'd like to be within a bus/cab ride into town if I want to have a few drinks.

Craigslist seems to have a VERY limited amount of apartments in the <1k price range, and I was wondering if there were any suggested realtors or sites that are better for searching in the area.

Also, I'll be moving up there alone. Anyone do the same and have experiences on meeting people? Hunting/Fishing lessons? Groups/clubs for late 20s-early 30s types?

Thanks!

Hey, that's great. Vermont is a great place to live.

I have found that the newspaper that people rely on most for classified ads, including housing, is the local "alternative" paper, Seven Days. Here's the link to their housing ads: Seven Days Classifieds : Housing

Thanks Jack. I'll keep checking SevenDays periodically. I can't wait to get up there and start living the kind of life I've wanted for a while.

whether craigslist or anywhere else, you won't find many under 1,000 in burlington that aren't either very small, a dump, or both.

Winooski is cheaper but personally I would not want to live there(no offense to anyone living there - I do enjoy visiting DT Winooski from time to time.

I would go with either Colchester or Milton if it has to be under 1,000.

I've found some interesting rentals on here http://farmandforest.com/ but that's more for the Newport area. You can still look up places around Burlington if you refine your search, but I found that the choice was very limited.
