My wife and 11 year old are looking at a trip in late March (probably last weekend of month) and I'm wondering if skiing in VT would make sense in that time frame. We'd be flying into South Burlington and therefore would probably be looking at something somewhat local, but I hear Killington is nice. I haven't researched much other than seeing that my son can get a free 5th grade pass which is nice. We are all inexperienced skiers and the adults are vegan/vegetarian. Are there any locations that make particular sense for us if skiing is still a good option? Thanks

Considering how much snowpack we have this year, you should have plenty of good skiing at the end of March. It'll be warmer and sunnier, close to spring skiing, depending on where you go. Flying into South Burlington you can look into several ski areas - Smugglers Notch, Mad River Valley, Stowe I believe are the closest and also probably have the best options for vegetarian eaters. Killington will be a 2 hour drive from SB.

I don't ski, so hopefully others will chime in. I've always heard that Smuggs and Bolton were great for beginners...

There was a cool site that gave a nice summary of current conditions. I know you're asking about late March but maybe you'll find a good resort you can see stats or call for info on? Sometimes resorts keep snow stats or condition stats each month so you can get an idea how end of March looks? Little homework involved with that though.

Here's 1 cool site. Not sure if its just NH though.

where are you flying in from?

it honestly doesn't make a ton of sense to fly into burlington and drive to killington passing a bunch of nice ski resorts. Killington is a solid hour south of Sugarbush which is a solid hour south of Stowe.

Stowe , Smugglers Notch, Sugarbush are much closer to Burlington. I think Stowe would be the closest and it is pretty nice there. I think Sugarbush is a bit more affordable than Stowe.

There are tons of great vegetarian restaurants in Burlington. Revolution Kitchen should be on top of your list if you are in Burlington looking for great vegetarian food.

And yes the skiing is still great right now in late March.
