Hi Forum! I've just moved to Addison County and am working as a contractor for the first time. I am wondering if any of you might be able to recommend an accountant who can help me navigate the tax implications of no longer working for a corporation, help me understand qualified deductions, expenses, etc. I have not been able to get any recommendations from people I know in the area, and I certainly wouldn't mind working with someone further out of town. Any recommendations would be most appreciated! Thanks!

We use American Tax in Williston and have been very happy. They are located near Taft Corners.

When I lived in the Middlebury area my accountant was John Chamberlain of Chamberlain Associates:

John Chamberlain
Chamberlain & Associates
211 Maple Street
PO Box 634
Middlebury, VT 05753
Business Phone: 388-3764
Fax: 388-1675
Email: johnc@chamberlaincpa.com

I highly recommend him. In fact, I wish we could have moved down to Virginia with us. We've had mixed results down here with two different accountants. Back in Vermont I was a contract web developer and John handled our personal and S-corp taxes beautifully.
