Hi gang,
Not definite, but pretty good chance of me starting at Fletcher Allen in July, so I wanted to be timely and ask about some housing leads. This is probably going to sound like a singles ad in bullet form... lol... but I just want to get a jump on this before the the undergrads start thinking about heading back to UVM.

Late 30's, single, newly-minted physician looking for quiet housing within 30-45 minutes of Burlington. No pets, non-smoker, discrete and respectful (will be at the hospital for long hours, and studying like mad otherwise). Hoping for same in surrounding premises/neighborhood. Not yet focusing on buying, but may consider. Prefer rural atmosphere, quiet, sustainable living. Would also appreciate off street parking, at best (!) some garage space for automotive hobbies: converting diesel vehicles to run on vegetable oil (focusing on VW turbo diesels), restoring and modifying VWs for performance. I practice an organic, locally purchased/grown vegetarian lifestyle, am an outdoor exercise freak (tele skier and mtn biker, among many others), am energy and ecological footprint-conscious, and am a composter. Politically and socially active, but not a nut, just optimistic.

I'll be coming from coastal Maine, and potentially (hopefully) beginning my training in July. Family in New England and moving to the greater Burlington area may become a dream realized. I'll be there for good if provide the opportunity, intend to settle in area for remainder of career/life.

Willing to pay premium for housing that's a good fit... and I'm a bit particular at 39 y/o. Thrive in environments like converted barns with retained barn space, off-grid cabins, yurts, camps, or otherwise efficient and tidy dwellings.

Anyone interested in communicating about seemingly similar contexts as described, or know of others with the same, or have any leads? I've poured through Craig's, Picket Fence, and the MLS, but nothing's jumped out at me yet.

Any help will be genuinely appreciated! I will become an active community member and hope to form strong neighborhood bonds and relationships. I'm quite serious, and really pumped, about this potential. Thanks a ton for reading this far, and I hope that you have a great season.

Kindest regards,
Tensegrity

Sometimes informal networking will yield opportunities not found on any BB. That really needs to be done in person, though, or at least by someone you know who lives here and can start asking around for you.

Another possibility: Green Homes for Sale - Vermont. There are always very few postings, but new listings do pop up and can be very interesting.

I'm not sure if any of these would fit the bill, but figured I'd send them along...the first two are in Charlotte - one being a co-housing and the other is a sustainable community that is in the process of being developed. Not sure if that's too far away from Fletcher for you or not...we had some interest in Williams Hill, as the builder has done some amazing work elsewhere, but in the end, it's a bit far from family for us.

Williams Hill Vermont - A Neighborhood of Green Homes

There is also co-housing in Burlington as well....

Thanks for the responses. Yeah, I completely agree, so this is my first salvo of feelers, that's all. Other plans brewing as well. Thanks again!
