I'm looking for a place to rent as close to IBM in Essex Junction as I can get but it can be as far as 15 miles out. I'm looking for a 3 bed, 2 bath, cable/hi-speed internet, garage/carport would be nice, and a good high school. I've been looking on the internet and it's been slim pickings. Is there a good website I can go to? Are there rental communities in the area? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

FYI VT has the slimmest rental market in the country and it's about to get worse. Try craigslist and seven days(local paper)

You have to be very fast, too. When we moved to the Burlington area, I called on Craigslist and 7 Days adds almost immediately after they were posted, and at least half were already rented. Another quarter weren't there when I called and never bothered to call me back. It was rough. Unfortunately, there aren't really other options (at least that I have found) for apartment listings.

Good luck in your search!

Why don't you contact/go on line to UVM and see what they have listed on their site...that's a possibility for you to consider.

Renters are a captive audience in Vermont and the pressure on the market will increase as housing starts have slowed (but the demand is still very much there and increasing daily). Anything modern will fetch a premium but some decent places are available. I think the HUD fair market rent for a 3 bedroom (apartment) is about 1300 per month give or take a few hundred. A modern house would likely be considerably more. If you don't mind living in a older house (late 1800's or early 1900's) the rent may be comparable. Your mileage may vary.
