Ben Stein: Read Any Of His Books?
He appears to be a very intelligent man and educated in finance/economics.
I was cruising Amazon and noticed he'd written a number of financial books. Has anyone here read any of them? If so, would you mind sharing your thoughts?
Thanks!

I like Ben Stein, although it's ironic he is best known for a short role in "Ferris Buhler's Day Off". He was a speech writer for Pres. Nixon. He was the host of a great game show that gave Jimmie Kimmel his first break into TV in "Win Ben Stein's Money". His game show was the only one I have ever seen where the host becomes a contestant and competes against the visiting contestants. Ben's knowledge of so many subject areas is incredible, and on his game show he won more often than the visitors. I have seen him appear on dozens of the weekend financial programs. It's always a contrast to hear Ben after listening to a bunch of other wall street "wizards" sing about their pet stock of the week. Ben will usually have a recommendation that is far more mundane or simple, but a philosophy that pays off in the long run. And that's the difference, Ben looks at things from a much longer viewpoint than most financial "experts" who are focused on what's going on at present.

I remember that game show! Was more fun than Jeopardy to me. Stein is a great guy, very conservative, and very intelligent. If he was giving me advice, I'd listen closely.

He's got a "documentary" coming out that gives his perspective on evolution and intelligent design. Ben Stein is EXPELLED: No Intelligence Allowed

Nonetheless, I think I'll be checking it out. Stein appears to me to be of sound judgement..........even though that mono-drone can be very annoying at times.

I like Jim Rogers better, as far as people on tv.
Jim use to be on Cavuto on Business on Fox, with Stein a frequent guest. Stein's ahead of the other "experts", most of them are throwing darts. It's amazing what you can get away with on tv when talking about stocks.
If you took these "experts" down to a mall or shopping center and asked them to invest in companies there, they wouldnt know what to do. Its funny how they have so much confidence on tv predicting where a company will be in 3 or 5 years, but in real life of course its much different.
Also, great role in Ferris Bueller. I dont think he'll ever escape out of the shadow of that role. Truely classic.

Jim Rogers definitely rocks, especially on his preemptive strike on Bernanke and the Fed. He's referred to Ben as "out of control" and a "lunatic". Definitely takes big ones to suggest that someone mainstream and regarded as a hero as a lunatic.
I like Matthew Simmons and David Tice also. Matthew on the supply/demand argument and a sane voice in the so-called "chicken little" peak oil theory, and David Tice as another realistic (runs a site called prudentbear)
David was quoted as saying:
"The economy is going to go into severe recession, then once it enters that severe recession, it's going to cascade in on itself."

I have read all Ben Stein's books and they were all very interesting and amusing at the same time. I would highly recommend them.
