Default Economic models predict clear Obama win in November

Economic models predict clear Obama win in November - Yahoo! News (broken link)

Quote:
Three separate studies showed the Democratic presidential hopeful winning between 52 and 55 percent of the popular vote on November 4, based on current gloomy economic estimates.

Any further darkening in the economic outlook -- many analysts think things will get worse between now and November -- would reinforce that election outcome.

"The economy is certainly not going to be a positive for the Republicans," said Ray Fair, an economics professor at Yale university who built the earliest of the models in 1978.

OK guys. I know this is about as borderline as one can get. But I wiling to give it a chance in the B,F & I forum.

Tell me why America will vote for a democrat this fall over a republican because of economic issues? Please!!!!!!!! Please!!!!!!!!! Please!!!!!!!!! Keep yourself focused.......And keep this tread in terms of the Economy/Federal spending. Basically, keep it to the money issues.

A lot of folks were brought up to think that the Dems represent the working man, while the GOP represents the rich. I know, I know...not true at all. But my parents thought that way, and lots of other peoples' did, also.

Unfortunately the current administration has been fiscally irresponsible, and that won't help the candidate of his party. Truth is, I don't think that either candidate has the interest, the ability, or the knowledge required to address what's coming down the pike for us economically.

What's going to happen is going to happen, no matter who gets into office. I don't even know why anyone would want the presidency right now. They will be blamed for it all. Perhaps that's why we haven't any really good candidates running?

Rep to you! I think you've nailed it.

While I agree that this administration has been fiscally irresponsible (outrageously so), they did inherit some problems. The Internet Bubble didn't start on their watch and if all the air had been deflated then, instead of blowing it up into the Real Estate Bubble, the carnage wouldn't have been nearly as bad. And nobody could have predicted 9/11. So, yes, they turned a mess into a bigger mess and many people will be casting their vote against the GOP, giving the Dems a tailwind.

If ever we needed a strong, fearless leader, now is the time. But I don't see the seeds of greatness in either candidate.

Why will America vote for a Democrat because of economic issues?
Because we've had a Republican in the White house the last eight years, and food costs more, gas costs more, wages haven't kept up with inflation, the US dollar has gotten crushed compared to other currencies, there are more lower paying service jobs and less higher paying manufacturing jobs, a couple of million people have lost their homes to foreclosure, many more now have negative equity, federal spending is very high while revenues are down, and the wealthiest Americans received tax cuts.

Come on KevK. Give it a chance. I just want economic issues and how they may effect our politics this fall. I made sure I stipulated as such at the beginning of this. Notice the low response so far. It's never a popular thread then you actually have to come up with meat and potato reasons why you may lean toward a candidate or not.

This ain't the P & C forum.

Yeah I know. Im just making fun of what the "rules" say. It is impossible to separate the cajoined twins of politics and economics.

Politics IS economics this election. When people are staring inflation in the eye, while banks are failing, their savings are decling and their assets shrinking, nothing else much matters.

Though I still care deeply about the environment and that ozone thing.

This is why I truly believed Mitt Romney would have been a good candiadate. He is a successful buisness man and I believe our government needs to be operated like a buisness. Always looking to make a profit with very little wasteful spending.
