My next home will have a wood stove..for about $2500 installed and it can heat up to a 2500 sq/ft home.

Backup is propane gas.

Yes that's what I use when it's cold. It works great to heat the whole house. I have eletric room heaters for back up if I need them, but electricity is getting higher priced all the time. Mostly I put on warm clothes which is enough this time of year. Yes it's getting cool early here on the Oregon coast. Daytime temps are alright but at night it's getting cold already.
