Good point! Let me add to this. It's really the fund managers who want people to stay in their funds no matter what. Why? So the funds they manage don't go down in value and they get to keep their job and big bonuses. Industry cheerleaders like Peter Lynch, Crammer, Bern Stein, etc. help spread that message on tv and in books to the naive masses with great success.

What's wrong with that? You ask. What's wrong with my fund not go down in value? Nothing...if it works out like that. While the cheerleaders are telling the masses to do one thing, they tell their real clients to do the opposite. The reality is in bad times most funds/stocks will go down in value. It's the naive novice who are left with the sinking ship.

Just to be clear, I am not implying that people should get out of their 401K. I am suggesting they should protect their money above all.

It's easy to stay in your 401K and just rebalance which you should do semi annually or annually.

If folks did that then they might have seen this coming and have a bigger percentage in stable funds right now and not equities.

LMAO. Let me refer you to the $300 oil threads, the $7 gas threads, the $3,000 an ounce gold threads.....yeah it's really freaky.

I predict the stock market will go up in October.
I predict the stock market will go up in November.
I predict the stock market will go up in December.
I predict the stock market will go up in January.
I predict the stock market will go up in February.

I predict that the average gas price nationally will be $3.45 in January.
I predict that the average gas price nationally will be $3.55 in January.
I predict that the average gas price nationally will be $3.65 in January.
I predict that the average gas price nationally will be $3.75 in January.
I predict that the average gas price nationally will be $3.85 in January.
I predict that the average gas price nationally will be $3.95 in January.
I predict that the average gas price nationally will be $4.05 in January.

Give or take 5 cents.

I don't like wasting time like most of the hacks here and have condensed by expert prognostication to a single post. Whoops, gotta get back to the grill, lunch rush is coming in.

Covered in another thread.

Suffice to say that if they are for schizophrenic people with delusions and early stage dementia this forum is going to need a lot less bandwidth.
