Totally agree - I've voted independent in both of the previous presidential elections (I'm 27) - we need more choice than just 'the lesser of 2 evils' system as we currently have. Why can't we have a debate w/3 or 4 canidates, what are McCain & Obama so afraid of? Why not let Bob Barr, Ron Paul, & Ralph Nader participate so we can hear other voices. So tired of the same old democrat vs. republican garbage.

After Bush (s) and the neocons you believe this is still a Republic, let alone, a democracy. Not that I can see.

[quote=bxlefty23;5353386]the bailout package is another piece of trickery by the us govt
they do this all the time
banks would not run themselves in the manner that they do if the govt did not encourage such behavior
their is not 1 logical reason that taxpayers thru income tax or inflation should pay for a bailout
The whole "too big to fail argument" is a load of crap
it would hurt short term, in the long run you can not keep throwing good money after bad, its a house of cards and does not work

And this is assuming that the numbers quoted will in anyway even resemble the actual amount of money being used in the bailout (this never happens)

Greedy people, greedy banks and a govt enouraging and enabling the banks to conduct business in such a risky manner is the reason we are in this mess

True enough lefty!
The fact is most folks simply can not wrap their mind around the fact that
Wall St. & Co, ARE the govt. and have been for some time now.

The first step is to manage one's own household budget (how many regular citizens can't even balance a checkbook?), participate in one's own municipality budget, school board budget, and so on.

Whether we take responsibility for ourselves or not, we get what we deserve.

To be sure, there are many responsible Americans who do sensibly manage their household budgets and it is a pity that they have to pay for the irresponsibility of others.

But it rains on the just and unjust alike.
Great post. People need to get involved

Ralph Nader is out of touch. He just likes to be controversial and would provide absolutely ZERO leadership as president.

However, I agree that we need a viable 3rd Party. The problem with the current 3rd Party structure is that they are too specialized to attract a large enough base. In order to be viable the 3rd Party has to be able to appeal to multiple segments of the population.

How about the Responsible Citizens Party? Wouldn't that be a novel idea, a party based on promoting personal, corporate, and governmental responsibility?

I voted for Ron Paul back in my state's primary in February. Everybody thought I was crazy.

They don't think I'm crazy anymore.
