Better educated? Both? My hunch is that they are more entrepreneurial. They like to take risks. Whenever I go to Chinatown here in Chicago, I'm struck by how many Chinese here could barely speak English, yet they own businesses that seem to print money left and right. I also know a couple who owns a small fast food Chinese restaurant in the suburbs. Their English isn't very good. Yet their son is now a junior in medical school.

I'm talking from personal experience and not necessarily from a statistical or factual standpoint. I presume we are talking about this from a very general standpoint because as an Asian American, I can tell you I know plenty of fellow Asian Americans who do not fit the mold ... not even close.
I think different cultures put emphasis on specific things. In the Asian culture, specifically Chinese, it's all about hardwork and your filial duty (children expecting to take care of parents in future). With that kind of "drive" if you will, Asians tend to put ones "self" aside and think of what's best for the "family". Top that with every Chinese parent wanting their kid to be a doctor or lawyer and you've got the stereotypical Asian nerd. Again, this is from a very general standpoint b'c I for one am nothing like the above description.
Oh, and if anyone is interested in seeing a movie that totally breaks all stereotypes about Asians, check out the movie "Better Luck Tomorrow". It's a pretty interesting perspective on American kids who happen to be Asian.

Well, the first Asians in the United States were Native Americans! The skull type of Asians and Native Americans are the same structure! If I think about it, some Native Americans are wealthy because of the casino establishments in the reservation!

You are right actually. I went to a seminar once when I was in college (back in 1999, 2000 time frame) and they talked about this very topic that native American's are descendents of the Asian culture.
During that same timeframe, I was on an airplane once and I think this guy was trying to hit on me or something but he asked me what tribe I was from. I was like, "Huh? I'm Chinese dude!" He was totally mortified!

Nothing wrong with that
Honestly I can't recall what I learned that day. It was 8 years ago afterall but I do know that somehow, Native Americans and Asians (specific country?) are somehow connected.

you are right ---- different cultures emphasis different stuff. some gangbanging drug dealing, car jacking, joilette prison, others doctoring lawyering nursing engineering-- nerdy stuff like that. you are right. its all bout what floats your boat diversity is so important. i have a dream.

this article sheds some light on the matter:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/21/ny...21teachct.html
in this country today there is much less respect for intelligence, knowledge and learning. The US is losing it's previous leadership in science and technology because of this.
