I ended up closing my Wachovia account last Friday, 11/28. I figured even if Wachovia will be around for another couple of years, the fact remains they'll become part of Wells Fargo, and I don't want to bank with Wells Fargo. I'm now doing most of my banking with a local credit union. The Wachovia manager didn't even ask me why I was closing my account. He just punched a few buttons on his computer and gave me a printout confirmation that the account was closed. So long, Wachovia. It was fun while it lasted...
