Thanks for your feedback, I didn't know HSBC was rated 2 star by Bankrate.com. In these times I wanna be with banks rated 3 star and up, for my security. This transaction fiasco convinced me to eventually close the acct especially considering their rating and other negative comments about HSBC and transfers. Do a google search on HSBC transfers and you'll see!!!!

HSBC is most terrible company I have ever had to deal with. Worst customer service ever! I despise that company.

You can google ANY company and find "horror stories". People are more likely to complain than compliment.

I actually really like HSBC. We have a Premier account and it has been absolutely brilliant. No problem at all with funds transfers, although it was a pain to set up the online account initially because they are so strict on security. No problems since. They even make country to country transfers super easy.
We've been with them about 3 years and no complaints here. We actually use them as our main bank and ING as a secondary bank.

sspp is on a distinguished road
I have the same problem with HSBC like taurus430 .Both my checking account and HSBC accounts had been openned for more than 3 years. This is the first time i transfer money $5500 out of hsbc. Then all my bank accounts in HSBC locked. The ridiculous thing is i must fax all my accounts statements which are links to HSBC to them (boa chase etc.). the phone call can't solve the problems.

My account is closed with HSBC. It took forever to do, as they are incompetent in customer service. I had to physically go to a branch as the on line people were not closing it after the big problem I had with them. Then after they supposedly closed it, my account was still open with interest in it. Another struggle.
I am done with HSBC, the worst bank out of all of them. Although the others, BOA, ING, Emigrant, Capital One are all good as far as I'm concerned.
