It was nice to look at my portfolio & see gains instead of losses. I hope the market rises at least 2000 points.

No, I'm not kicking myself. You can't predict these short term swings.

When I sold my stocks a year ago I missed maybe a 5 percent uptick in the market back then ...

BUT ... I've also missed a 50 percent drop in the market overall. So I'm still 45 percent ahead.

I bought some stock on Friday and sold it on Monday. Now I'm waiting for the real bottom so I can hold longer term. As my dh says, "some in your pocket is better than none".

This is uncharted territory. Not only do you have an unknown balance sheet on many businesses thanks to derivatives, but you have the potential of the short sellers targeting an individual company, and the government rushing to the rescue. Top that off with a weak economy. There was an oversold condition on Friday, and some bounce was almost certain. Monday's rally may have gone too far up for reality, and watching the rest of the week is probably best done from a distance.

I have rarely seen anything as unpredictable as the price of any individual stock in this market, and that includes gold, silver, and commodity futures. True values are being obfuscated by massive movements of money. If you surf this market, you are surfing in killer waves.
