And you don't live there because? If it's that great maybe a relo is in order. Seems like the theme to your continued posts is always " give me what others have because if they have it and I don't so it must have been stolen".
Have there been shady dealings? Sure on both sides of the isle. Have some rich people done crooked things? Sure just like those who aren't rich that used liar loans to get into properties they couldn't afford or the 20 credit cards they charged to the max and then went BK on.
Should all wealthy people be penalized just because they're wealthy? No just as you don't deserve to get it because you intake and release air everyday.
Ask good old Ted Kennedy and his family, Pelosi and her family or Sen Dodd if they should give up all their money to the poor.

Couple this with a gang culture, Mexico collapse, Iran building up to 50 nukes, North Korea launching missiles that can reach the US, a ME, ME and ME mentality of the past generation, and we are entirely screwed.
When the economic system breaks all the way and the USA is done printing money, society will break down, unemployment will surge past 20% and our infrastructure will buckle. It is then, that you will realize, the end is near.
I really think we screwed ourselves this time, for real.

There will be pain, that's for sure--and I worry about the future of our nation. I don't think most people realize what is unfolding here.
However, I also find the social study of this event fascinating--like watching a train wreck occur in slow motion. Looking at the different possibilites and what might occur intrigues me. I think the scariest possbilities arise from how Americans are willing to adapt to a culture with less "stuff", limited jobs, and fewer resources--including food and basic essentials. Will we become more Socialist like Europe? Can we become more self-sufficient as a country and increase our manufacturing base? Will we try to hold on to our greed and attempt to use the military to plunder new assets?
The worst case scenario is a complete collapse of the country and it's infrastructure (electric grids, running water...). Also, history has proven that political demigods, who have great followings but aim to destroy society, usually come to power during these types of economic events.
Geopolitically, the world has been a really scary place for the last 100 years or so. Outside of domestic terrorism, I would argue that outside threats are less now than they've been in the past. This time though, the enemy is from within--and it's going to devour us if we don't adapt quickly.

Man - go to the doctor, get a prescription to Xanax of something. Relax.
Really, when I read these "gloom or doom" forecasts, I don't think the writers really believe it. Not for a bit. If they did they wouldn't be posting here, they would be preparing for the end-of-days in their bomb shelter or whatever - stocking ammunition and canned food. I think they are just posting for some phychological need to vent in public.

There seem be to be a lot of tent cities opening up around the country, that might fall under "gloom or doom".

How so, I don't get you?
Tent cities fall under recession.
Mass people moving out of urban environments and moving into cabins and fallout shelters falls under "gloom or doom"
Now, dwelling on the fact that "oh no there are tent cities springing up everywhere, everywhere I tell you, everywhere" does in fact also fall under "gloom and doom" I admit.

Here's another one this morning from Reno Nevada
How much or how many homeless people does it take for it to become worse than a recession? How much unemployment or under employment does there have to be to have maybe a hint of gloom and doom? How about the market? does the DJA have to go below 1500? or the S&P at 250? Do you have a number or set of qualifiers?
Dd714, is that the William Rush?

Good ole Rush Limbaugh once said that everyone's historical perspective only reaches back only as far as to when they were born. In other words, for much of the population, the economic crisis is the worse they have ever seen and such the world is ending.
Well as a country we survived throwing the limeys out of the country and an invasion by them again including burning Wash DC and the White House down(somehow people forget that), we survived a bloody civil war, economic panics and depression, virus and disease epidemics, all sorts of weather and earthquakes, 2 world wars, liberals like FDR and LBJ trying to destroy the country, etc.
So we have survived a lot worse and yet we have the highest quality of living any society has ever had. Obama is on a mission to level much of the USA and I'm sure the rest of my life we'll be paying the price for that and yet we will survive.

No way do we have the highest quality of life. Sweden, France, Norway, etc., not here.

Too late, Reagan and the Bushes beat him to it. $10 trillion in debt and $50 trillion in unfunded (or funds raided) obligations he inherited.

There's no question it was stolen.

It's not a penalty; it's taxes owed. The public can charge whatever it wants for the services they used, just like the rich charge whatever they want for the products/services they sell. When people default on their credit cards, every card holder is charged more interest. When some of the rich steal, every rich person is charged higher taxes.

OK I think you are contributing to the OP post of gloom and doom. So my post, that remains unanswered, addresses this question ONLY - why aren't you preparing for armageddon? Why are you posting here and not getting off "the grid" and busy building your bomb shelter, collecting your ammo, stocking up on canned food?
Hell man if I was sure of the apocolypse I would quit work tommorrow and buy a ranch in Idaho and raise sheep or something, or at least spend all the money I have left, since it won't be good anymore, on liquor and whores and buy a mass quantity of drugs and quietly wait out THE END in a zombied state. I am joking, but you get the point. Why are people posting all this and then leaving their normal life like I assume they are if they really believe all this?
