I became a BOA customer when they bought NationsBank. I just have a checking account and a credit card (which I pay in full, so I'm unaware of any onerous practices).

I think I hate BOA, just on general principles.

I've only had two minor issues with them. They raised the minimum balance for free checking on my interest (laughable) checking. They probably notified me, but I didn't have my microscope, so I missed it. But I sure noticed the $20 monthly fee on my statement! I went in and they told me that since I have several direct deposits that if I drop the interest bearing part I would have free checking with no minimum balance. Boy, I sure miss that 39 cents a month interest! The nice touch was they refunded my 20 bucks without me asking.

The other irritant was I renewed my drivers license like everybody has to do....and a few weeks later they wouldn't take my license for ID because it was "less than 3 months old".

I have so many direct deposits and debits that it would be a big hassle to change, so I stay. Unless they REALLY tick me off sometime in the future...

BofA has what they call a Premier account, for customer's who have over a certain about. It think it's like $250k, something like that. Then you get a Premier banker assigned to you. Anything you need, call them and they take care of it for you. In other words, you get lots of extra a$$ kissing that the regular customer.
They watch your account, call occasionally to see how you're doing and if you need anything, call you on your Birthday, all the stuff salesmen do. If you should get any fees, give them a call and they wave it for you...
Just a little extra service for the high rollers...

Honestly, that sounds like free checking from WaMu. I fat fingered a transfer and they called immediately and waived the fee. They call me at least every few months, send me cards on Christmas and my birthday, etc.

If that kind of stuff is reserved for the high rollers then BOA must treat their regular customers like crap.

The weirdest thing...I received the letter 2 days ago and today my premier accounting manager shoots me an email to renew one account that was going to expire today...So now I'm confused...first they mention that I have to deal with the local branche, which is annoying since the opening 5 years ago the have been getting new staff all the time and when you get to know some employees they are gone again...also it is 10 miles away which means 20 miles just to transfer money from my CD to my checking which can be done over the phone with premier banking but with the local center I have to drive all the way just for this...which is not very customer friendly!

I had one banking manager who allowed me to write a letter and fax it over to have money taken from my CD and put it in my checking....I don't understand it....Air lines want to do everything online to make things cheaper...banks don't get it!

For the rest i'm pretty happy with BoA...They are all similar so why should I switch...I just wish they would listen to customers and make their banking more friendly without trying to scam by charging fees and give them back only when a client notice them.....

Make sure there won't be a charge for "face to face" service, as the big banks appear to be doing everything to make face-to-face service a thing of the past.

I just know BofA takes great care of me, and I know my mother who banks at WaMu is always unhappy with their service, and she has a lot more money than I do...

I know a lot of people still make regular trips to the bank, but I honestly think brick and stone banks are on the way out. I see no need for them anymore with everything being electronic today. Face to face went out with western movies...
In 20 or 30 years, when today's kids are doing the banking, there won't be any. All of us old coots from yesteryear will be gone and everyting will be done electronly. All you need is a small branch at the grocery story to sign up, and never se a bank again.
They have the technology now, but are waiting for the old timers to be planted...
Just like the automobile, they have perfected "Drive by wire" for cars. You steer with a joy stick and no steering wheel. It's available now, but you won't see it on production cars until the younger generation who were raised with joy sticks take over as the buying public...
Trying to get grampa to drive with a joy stick would be like getting everyone to use nothing but electronic banking today.... The public isn't yet ready for it, but be assured, it's coming...

I am not trying to convince anyone of anything. It is just surprising to me that BOA has a special name and requires significant assets to be treated the same way I am treated at WaMu with literally less than $5 in my account.

Communists !
BOA SUCKS.

This is not my or anyones opinion. This is just simple fact.

If you feel like arguing with me ask me how they allow unauthorized access to your account without care and have no interest in reimbursing you despite investigations.

Try this one. Today BOA took $8 billion given to them to loosen credit and invest it in America and what did BOA do? Gave the whole damn thing to China our mortal enemy. So shame on your govt for just giving away our tax money while using no contracts setting forth what the money is to be used for.

Did you already forget BOA gives out credit cards to illegal aliens who have no SS #? I dare any of you to try and open an accout without a SS # and see what they tell you. And I dont mean walking in with a fake ID claiming to be Jose Rodriguez. If I gave you an unsecured VISA card with no incentive to ever pay it back.....what would you do?

BOA is non American and pro China.

Banking with any bank is only as difficult as you make it. But then people who have problems with banks usually have problems with the electric co, cable, phone, etc. and the neighbors.
