In 20 or 30 years, when today's kids are doing the banking, there won't be any. All of us old coots from yesteryear will be gone and everyting will be done electronly. All you need is a small branch at the grocery story to sign up, and never se a bank again.
They have the technology now, but are waiting for the old timers to be planted...
Just like the automobile, they have perfected "Drive by wire" for cars. You steer with a joy stick and no steering wheel. It's available now, but you won't see it on production cars until the younger generation who were raised with joy sticks take over as the buying public...
Trying to get grampa to drive with a joy stick would be like getting everyone to use nothing but electronic banking today.... The public isn't yet ready for it, but be assured, it's coming...
I agree with you, many banking centers will disappear or only open for a few things, not for withdrawing money...JMO.

I have lived most my life in socialistic Europe and this beautiful "free" country is heading that way. In Europe you can only walk into a banking center for opening accounts, mortgages, etc....the rest is all taken care off outside. Can you imagine how difficult it became for older people, but who cares...not the banks..they figured out it saved them money for salaries and they fired a lot of people.
Of course Europe doesn't have the "pay check" like it is over here. Money is automatically wired from account to account (employer to employee, which makes it also easier for the IRS to watch what is going on) and it is easier and more safe. At first you would get a statement for every larger amount that was deposit but that was too expensive so now you get a statement once in a while, but that is already happening over here.

Most businesses will be done behind the computer.....just as it already is in the traveling industry.

You keep saying you are being treated the same as a Premier customer. Believe me, you're not..! We have all kind of perks you never dreamed of...
If you want to know more, call BofA and tell them you want to deposit a million dollars in their bank, and you want to know what they will do for you.
I don't work for them or get anything out of giving the asked for opinion on BofA..
If WaMU is your choice, I'm thrilled for you. I suggest you go start a thread about them, because this one is clearly labeled B of A....
All that really matters is if we are both happy with our selections. I appears that we are....
