Default TARP + banks + Merck Co. + Schering-Plough Corp = -35,000 jobs.

Big Pharma bulks up with Merck-Schering deal - Los Angeles Times

I wonder how many jobs wouldn't been lost if they had not combined....hrmm... think I'm gonna investigate that.

I'm more concerned with a monopoly forming in the drug industry.

From the same Article:

"The TARP money is supposed to be loosening up credit and keeping Americans employed. They shouldn't be using bailout money to get rid of people."

Sweet deal for these drug companies and the banks. Let's see how this wok. Tax payers' money makes this deal possible. The employees whose tax money the Government uses to help these companies will lose their jobs. Any body remember C? This is another company/bank that benefits from tax payers' money. They laid-off thousands of American workers while at the same time hired people in the Philippines.

My question is: why are Americans not fed-up with being treated like this?

We're still deluded from decades (centuries?) of propaganda telling us that we're in charge of our lives. Give it a year or two....
