An impressive rally on our hands...
Okay doom and gloomers, what a past couple of days we just had on the market. It feels good to see the number in the green. Dare I call we bottomed on Monday?
Ah, what the heck, I will. There are a ton of bad things right now, but having been all over the world, we really have some smart minds and talent in this country.

Hi TennisDD,
If they change the accounting rules all this will do is magically save banks. If they are going to do that then they need to do something on the liability side of the ledger if it will be good times again on Main street . Otherwise its the season of more money for banks to loan to select borrowers. Looser rules for select borrowers is a speculator, hedge fund paradise. Its a shift in direction towards out right printing money from banks. Its like post Bretton Woods on crack.

even the most optimist people (who understands the stock market) will tell you this only a BEAR MARKET rally which means it wont last. put it like this, a few days before the great depression the market gained so much it was the 3rd highest gain (percentage wise) in one day in history. not to mention DURING the great depression the market went up many times only to fall again the next week. even if this was a 20 day winning streak we still are not in the clear. i mean really, have you even heard anyone (on the news) even mention this might be the bottom?

anyone remember how in october 07 everyone on the news was bragging about the dow being 14000, then BAM!!! 2 months later we are in a recession. the dow is not a good indicator of the state of the economy (as stated by robert gibbs just today).

I pay no attention to what anyone on tv says if we hit a bottom or not. We will not know when we hit a bottom until long after we did and nobody will even care then. But the past few days have been very good for a change.
But I like your your attitude TennisDD. If more people in this country would adopt the same attitude you would be surprised how things just might change. But we do know many people are not happy unless they are complaining or predicting the end of time.

I am not sure why there is a rally on the DOW so far but economic times are still dismal at best... I don't have such a positive outlook...I remember a few people said 10k last year and at the beginning of this year... haven't materialize but it doesn't make you wrong or right.. indicators in the economy however suggests you are wrong...

So if suddenly people all started acting blissfully happy, you really think the CEOs/govco/Fed would stop the biggest heist in history?

Retail spending was better than they thought it would be,the banks making a profit and GM&GE not needing a bailout this month-positive things yes but I don't things are getting better just yet. I haven't heard much about the economy on the news this week-maybe they shouldn't talk about it so much because then positive things happen???
