Kinda makes the overly paid UAW worker's pay rate pale in comparison, don't you agree?

It really does'nt matter what Goldman pays their people. What matters is what Toyota, Hyundai, Honda, etc. etc. pay their people because that's who the UAW is competing with. The UAW folks are paid alot more. Their combined hourly wage, benefits, etc is more per hour and they have pages and pages of work rules in their contracts that raise the cost of business for the Big 3. That's being uncompetitive and that's why thousands have lost their jobs and thousands more will in the next coming months.

So everyone else who is saying the same exact thing as I am must also be very misinformed and envious as well ?
That's what these forumns are all about, opinions.
Although,I am not posting just my opinion, but facts from actual UAW employees and a husband who walks into these plants consistently...
maybe YOU are just not as informed as you think...

I'm glad they are going bankrupt. See what your union got you? Time for the UAW to take a lesson from the steel workers.

Absolutely, I was a tooling machinist in a non union shop for ten years working for $13. per hour with no benefits. We made parts for many industries. I wouldn't have traded that job for a union job paying twice the pay. In a union shop it's all about us (the workers) against them, (The company). I've seen lots of footage of scenes in a union auto plant and I have never seen more sluggish non motivated slow pokes in my life. They have no concept of hustle. No wonder our unionized auto plants can't compete without bailouts. Greedy execs, greedy union leaders and greedy slow a$$ workers. If I was forced to buy a car from the big three I would choose a Ford. My current rig is a Toyota with 370,000 miles on it. My grand father was a VP of GM back in the good days. He is no doubt rolling over in his grave watching from above what the freaking unions as well as the management have done to our auto industry. Keep the union ballots secret, cap executive pay and forget bonuses for inept company execs.

You missed the point of my post. Are you aware that Goldman Sachs received a cut of the $365 billion (UPI) bank bailout bucks? In all fairness to Goldman Sachs, according to Reuthers, they plan to repay the funds due to a 1st quarter profit and their desire to get out from under the $500,000 cap placed on compensation by the Obama administration. Ranting over a $1 million dollar annual income seems more justified than ranting over a $60,000 annual income in my opinion.

p.s. my brother works for the UAW in Western,NY,so do 2 of my cousins and my grandfather was also a UAW employee many, many, many years ago. He too would be turning over if he saw and heard what went on today...
So unfortunately, I guess we all have our own takes on what is to much money.. my brother says everyday how thankful he is for the work he does because he gets paid MUCH more than many of his friends who went to college and have what would be considered a "good" paying job.
My brother earns more than my husband who has a Masters...
So maybe the folks you know or you yourself are not/were not getting paid what the folks in Western,NY are making... I don't know.
So if actual UAW employees themselves can admit they make to much money for what they do, then so can I. (and there aren't many like my brother who actually realize they kind of have it made in today's economy!). He is however, looking for a new job because in reality,he probably won't have one for very much longer with Delphi...
Their request for more money from GM has been turned down from the Treasury Dept... so who knows what will happen now!
