exactly. i don't care if they make $100000000 per hour as long as they aren't coming after my tax bucks that's fine and as long as they aren't getting any favorable treatment from the govt.

it's definitely not ok to be bailing out the banks. i doubt if there is anyone calling for the autos to file and not the banks! if you don't hear anyone complaining about the banks being bailed out then perhaps you should open your eyes, ears and more importantly your mind. there were 'tea parties' all across the nation criticizing bank bailouts, tarp etc. not only that, ads were taken out in the new york times and wsj listing hundreds of economists opposed to tarp etc. then there were endless threads of this forum against bank bailouts!!!!! where have you been?

Yes I have heard of the "tea party's" etc...I guess I'm just sick and tired of listening to people complain about how much the auto workers shouldn't be making. Being part of the auto industry (E&D) I guess I just gravitate to the auto posts.

Instead of taking pay cuts I wonder if the UAW would instead consider efficiency gains. Probably go over better with the public as well. People are going to lose their jobs there isn't much the UAW can do about that.

IF I loose my job with DELPHI (which is a very good possibility), I am not sure what I will do.

I'm hoping for the best for you

Don't worry Smelly Kat-I don't think my sister will bore you anymore either. I believe she said she is done with this conversation.

Sounds like a plan! Take care

Same principle. I don't care how much money these bankers make as long as we're not bailing them out...

As she stated in one of her previous posts. I work for the UAW in Western,NY. I see firsthand every, single day what goes on in these plants.
I have a great job,I am extremely thankful for the wage in which I receive to do my job.
I will however ,admit, that I am working where I am working because I didn't want to go to college. I did horrible in high school and lacked complete ambition to do anything.
IF I loose my job with DELPHI (which is a very good possibility), I am not sure what I will do.
I am hoping that obviously that doesn't happen.
In the last 2 years,I have had taken significant pay decreases and you know what? I STILL make more than most of my friends who went to college.
I don't rub this in anyone's face, but I know that to the person who went to college and worked their you know what's off.. it doesn't seem quite fair.

My sister is in full support of people receiving fair pay and honestly, what I receive is not fair pay. Not when you think that I do spend a great deal of time these days basically doing a whole lot of nothing.
I admit it. There is ALOT of downtime going on. We stand around and most of the time, people are complaining about what they aren't making or that they can't afford to buy that new house they want,etc... I am not sure what they are doing with their money, especially the ones living in Western,NY. I bought a house on my salary no problem, with all the upgrades I wanted.

Please stop the criticism of others and their opinions.I have never spent any time on these boards but my sister told me about this dicussion and I asked her to show it to me. I am glad that she did.
She absolutely knows what she is talking about, and if you would like, she can really can get into some pretty hardcore discussions with you about union issues.
She is to classy to do so though and will not stoop to criticize others.
She is right,as a UAW employee and in full support of my union,we make to much money for what we do.
There are many people who do things that are much more important and get paid much less-how about teachers for example?
Even though I didn't do well in school,I fully respect what they do and how hard they worked to do what they do. They had to deal with students like me.

As for the whining about my parents situation. It is sad. She has the right to be upset about watching my parents who worked so hard for us,spend any of their savings on just keeping up with health care. I am sorry that your parents also have apparently had some struggles with that.
I don't know what DM means, but I am sure she does. My guess is that she will say "don't bother".

The person who proposed the original question wanted to know if the UAW employee makes to much money.

As an extremely grateful UAW employee, I have to agree. We make much more money than our job skills are worth.

Don't worry Smelly Kat-I don't think my sister will bore you anymore either. I believe she said she is done with this conversation.

You have a right to your opinion, but again,I don't think that you know actual facts either and until you spend time in one of the plants, you can't know anything about what is actually going on. Right now,not alot of anything, but we are still getting paid for it, and very well,I might add

maybe instead of saying the uaw employers are being paid to high. you should say delphi employees in western new york get paid to much. the problem comes when we lump all uaw employees together.
