Well, sales taxes can be levied by municipal, county and state governments. Federal taxes are usually included in the price of the item being sold, as in the case of cigarettes, booze and gas. For all I know, there is a federal tax on guns as well. It never ceases to amaze me that we pay taxes on taxes. My salary is taxed at about a 22 percent rate. I put money in the bank, and the interest on the money the bank pays is taxed, the money I spend on gas is taxed, as are the (coff, coff) cigarettes I buy. I don't drink, so I don't pay that (thank God). But if I lived in another state, the food, clothing etc, could be taxed depending on the jurisdiction. I think that taxes are OK, and normally, we get what we pay for (usually bad government). But jeez, take it all at the beginning, don't nickel and dime me to death!

what makes shopping anymore confusing is some places will do something like buy 3 for $10.00 and you do not know if you just buy one if you will pay just $3.33 or could pay $5.00
