Is there any place where I can find stats on how many businesses relocated in the US during a given year and where they relocated to?

You might try with your local Chamber of Commerce and pose your question to them. Also try:

U.S. Chamber of Commerce - Business Issues & Action, Small Business Resources, Events, Advocacy, Chambers and Associations

Welcome to the Department of Commerce

Either way, you will need to call them and ask them your qestion. Good luck!!

I will definitely try this for the local numbers.

It is pretty amazing that neither the census, small business administration, or any other entity keeps track of businesses that relocate nationally.
