branding?
Could branding yourself be considered a small business? I know many people who has built themselves up so much that anything that they sell people are buying what ever they sell. Steve Jobs, Martha Stewart, I even seen that rapper 50 Cent selling energy shots and books just because of his name. I know a few people locally who just show up everywhere and be very social, who sells crap, but people buy because those people became products themselves that people want to become.
So....would it not be such a bad idea to become a product myself and make people buy into me, then produce goods and services that people will buy because of the affiliation to my brand known as me?

Well, first you need a platform to launch from, whether it's a talent or expertise that's valuable to others. 50 Cent was a singer (Kind of) before he did anything else.

The idea of "branding" is more marketing speak than anything. Most of the people you cited became successful through a show or product before becoming a "brand" unto themselves.

Yeah. You have to have something to offer that they want before they come back. Steve Jobs created a whole host of great products before they foamed at the mouth to get anything new coming from him. I'm not so sure he branded himself to be a great guy that can sell you dirty underwear and people would buy anything.
And in your case of Fifty Cent, his marketing helps people try the product and take a look at it, but that's about it. It doesn't make the energy drink taste better or worst.
