I have an online drop ship business and we've been using Intuit recently to process the debit/credit cards online, but they are taking forever to make the funds available (a week, in one case), hit us with odd charges and are rude over the phone. Can anyone recommend a different company (aside from Paypal)?

TIA

people hate on paypal i actually use it and like it even though there are cheaper options percentag wise but it works for me. godaddy also has their own merchant account system if you use godaddy for your website builder they generally include an ssl certificate for free when you buy a domain or hosting but they are pretty close to paypal in fees. im guessing your working on small margins hopefully that helps a little tho

Switch to Volusion. They'll hook you up with a personal representative to call and email whenever you're in need so you can expect outstanding customer service. I've been using them for a few years now. Their e-commerce templates are awesome as well and user-friendly. Very professional.

The merchant account is a bit annoying to set up, but the customer service rep can help you like they did for me and once it's up and running, you'll look like a much more reputable business than some Joe Shmoe using a Joomla cart and PayPal.

As far as SSL goes, I think that Volusion also offers those, but the ones from GoDaddy are fine as well. Make sure you display the badge proudly on your site in a place where everyone can clearly see it and click for more information on how it encrypts their credit card information before it gets to you and all that jazz.

Thank you; I'll check out Volusion. I don't need a site builder, but thank you (first poster).

Just b/w you & me, I wouldn't use GoDaddy if it were free; the owner (or his sons? can't remember) was hunting elephants, and bragging about his kills, and he can get stuffed.

...had a look at Volusion. Looks fabulous but I don't need or want all that: I only want a way to process credit/debit cards over the phone. My store is already set up.

Are you using QuickBooks? There was recently a discussion on the Linkedin QB's ProAdvisor group of "alternatives" to Intuit that have good QuickBooks integration capability. I bookmarked the recommended card services. These were all suggestions made by people - I have no experience with any of them myself but they may be worth checking out.

eProcessing Network | The Everywhere Processing Networkâ„¢
CHARGE Anywhere - Empowering Payments

ABC Mobile Pay
Innovative Merchant Solutions—Home

Some appear to be "mobile payment solutions but they do offer regular services.

Well Intuit has a Quickbooks functionality available also, but we never used it; I only make four or five (expensive) sales per month, if that much. Not a big deal really, so Excel does it. But I'll check out the links (thank you).

I was thinking that since you were using Intuit you MUST have been using QuickBooks. To be honest with you I don't know WHY anyone would use it otherwise. The discount fees are a bit steep compared to others and the only reason I would recommend Intuit is the seamless integration with the accounting program. Paying a little extra to cut down on the accounting workload makes sense otherwise it isn't worth it.

We use Intuit, process 4 -5 larger sales per month for services. Some people we know used Charge.com which has EXHORBITANT fees and locked them into three years in their fine print. Through their company, Cynergy, they charged $185 for PCI Compliance while Intuit charges $35. When our friends complained, they refunded half the price.
