Also, you made a statement "just in case it doesn't pan out", never start a business thinking that. You need to feel like you are going to do whatever it takes and it will work out. I've had doubts in the past about business ideas and it got me nowhere. It wasn't until I took the attitude that whatever I do is going to work because I won't give up, that things started to change for me.

Thanks for reminding us if that!! It is so true.

There are allot of online wholesale scams online. If they charge a fee to do business with them, stay away. I purchased some sound systems from an online wholesaler to be sold on Ebay. They were advertised as "refurbished". When I received the delivery, the equipment was falling out of the boxes. Some boxes had hair inside (I won't say what type of hair) Of the 10 systems, only four were salvageable. I saw $$ in my eyes and got suckered in.
I deal with manufactures every day. If one of the started charging an expre fee for "the right" to de business whith them, I would toss that vendor out of the store.
Just be careful out there.

I agree.
Just like some box stores: Costco, Sams, BJ's, etc.
They charge you for a membership card, and they claim to offer 'wholesale' prices.
But you have to really do your homework and price compare if you ever hope to get lower prices at such places.
In our travels we have 'belonged' to each of these scams. And in each area, we still had to shop around.
A true 'wholesale' warehouse does not require a membership, and their prices will truly be wholesale [40% less than retail every day, every week, on every item]

Whatever you do do not search for wholesalers on the search engines. You'll come up with scammers. The Majority of wholesalers do not list themselves on the search engines because they do not want the attention of thousands of small e-biz owners. It's not that they dont want to do business with small ebiz owners, if you find them they will most of the time, its just that they rather focus on the big stores who buy a lot of product at once and they really dont want to deal with setting up accounts for thousands of small biz-owners who will buy small amounts of product. So wholesalers stay out of the internet "limelight." But again, if you find them it's rare that they'll turn down your business.
Also if you come across a wholesaler who does not ask for a tax ID or if they tell you you do not need a Tax ID to do business with them run for the hills. THey are not real wholesalers, just middleman that you wont profit from. Also run from any wholesaler who charges a fee to setup an account with them.
Dont take shortcuts, get legal and get your Tax ID.

I had never heard of that.
I used the IRS website when I got mine.
"Apply for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) Online"
Apply for an Employer Identification Number (EIN) Online
https://sa.www4.irs.gov/modiein/individual/index.jsp
To my experience if anyone asks for my business tax ID, I give them my EIN.
