Why is Sprout's Farmers Market stock down?

Anyone know if Sprout's will be opening in more smaller, yet highly educated and affluent towns? Seems their expansion slowed a bit. Whole Foods seems to have done a bit of expansion into smaller towns as too.

I am wanting to see health food markets not be something exclusive to small to mid to large cities.

Maybe because I do not shop there anymore:>) Vegetables/fruit in the rather new Keller, TX store are neither fresh nor local to say it nicely.

Also they announced in June they have plans to have 1,200 stores in the next decade and a half. I don't see it yet though? They will have 190 stores by years end.

We have a 3 trader joe's in my county and one whole foods in our college town. Sprouts is mostly in Southern CA because of taking over Henrys Market. Sprouts said most of their new stores will be newly constructed stores. However, Sprouts has a rough requirement of 100,000 population within 10 miles. They do have locations have broken that rule....

Sprouts is not mostly in Southern CA, and that's not where the expansion is. The company is focusing on expanding all across the southern United States.

Do we still know why Sprout's is focusing on growth in the south?

I heard Sprout's say they want to have 1,200 markets eventually.

I live in Southern California and have 3 Sprouts locations within a 10 mile radius of where I live. Sprouts is a nice market with Boars Head service delis and fresh sushi.

They keep expanding into Tn,Tx GA and Alabama. They need to reconsider California expansion. I think sprouts would do well in San Luis Obispo,Santa Barbara,Oxnard,Ventura,Palmdale,Visalia,Santa Maria,Paso Robles.

Also sprouts could open in Encino,Tarzana,Sherman Oaks,Studio City,North Hollywood and Glendale.
The last store sprouts opened in California was Bakersfield which I hear is doing very very well.

Many towns in central California and the central coast are underserved in terms of specialty natural grocery stores.

For example before Sprouts opening in Bakersfield,CA no market in Bakersfield sold boars head deli meats until Sprouts opened up in Bakersfield.

I, too, think it would do really well in many CA locales and always wanted them to open one in San Luis so I could transfer there. Maybe the cost of doing business in CA is too high?

Now, I don't know why they're focusing on the southern portion of the country, but they are.
