I also recommend Lazy Ass Stoner's Youtube videos.. contrary to what his name suggests, his videos are highly tactical and don't repeat the same old fluff you hear from other so-called SEO experts:
Whatever you do, SEO is not that big of a concern.. if you have good content, people will naturally share and link to it, making it far easier to rank even with imperfect SEO. Focus on that and combine it with Lazyassstoner's social media strategies.
Personally I go for blackhat SEO methods on my sites, churn and burn. I find something that works, scale it up, when the Google hammer comes down on me, I rinse and repeat.
You missed the SEO boom by a long shot. The market is now well saturated by digital marketing specialists performing SEO work in their free time.
There is still tons of money to be made in the SEO field.
OP I would recommend checking out a SEO related forum such as warriorforum or blackhatworld.

Same here.
If someone is truly good with SEO they wouldn't be messing with other peoples sites, instead ranking and banking on their own. It's kinda like those get rich stock quick market programs. Why would anyone bother selling it if they have a working method?
I agree that making a site that actually does something (and using SEO on/off it) is probably a better path to take than marketing SEO skills to other people with websites/companies online.
