Side Businesses for extra money? (profit, investment, income, buying)

Do many of you have side businesses going that bring extra money into the house. So you can make ends meet or just have extra playing money? I have been wondering what kind of stuff I could do for it. I don't really have a direction, just desire.

I started my "side" business 7 years ago, brought in a few hundred extra a week, just buying and reselling items online. When I was laid off in 2004, it was nice to have this extra income, and the extra time to work on it full time.

Havent held a "job" since.

That is great, are you doing this on e-bay?
So you now buy and sell online full time?

My parents have a ton of stuff that needs to be sold and I was thinking of starting with e-bay, I have never sold anything online before but am hoping I can make a few bucks. Any advice?

ebay is simple. Just make sure you spell things rite and put as many good descriptive words in your title. also i know many people say you can sell anything on ebay but this is not always the case. Some crap just doesnt sell.

You might want to read up on ways to make passive income. Such opportunities are not abundant but exist. The problem with some businesses is that you'll find yourself burning both ends of the candle and burning out. Or worse yet, if you can't devote yourself totally to this extra venture or don't totally understand how to run a profitable business and maintain cash flow, you may be getting a negative return on your investment of money and time.
