My Facebook has been exploding recently with people selling Rodan and Fields. They brag about all of the money they make and the "free" vacations provided to them by the company. Is this another MLM company or something else? My cynical side is curious.

It's an MLM. I will say it's a bit more practical than some other MLM's out there as they do have some decent products people actually want like their botox strips but at the end of the day it is a MLM where more of the focus is bringing people in and not selling products.

I assumed as much. And, yes, the posts I see on Facebook all emphasize "joining a growing company on the ground floor" rather than actually purchasing any of their products.

Thanks for the confirmation. I have a former co-worker on my FB and this company is allover her timeline. I'm sort of surprised she'd do this as she is a smart person who was successful in our field. Maybe things have changed for her.

I'm not a fan of MLM either but just because it's an MLM, it doesn't mean its a scam and your former co worker should stay away from it. There is a difference between legit MLM structure business and pyramid scheme. Too often people see MLM=pyramid scheme. Which is in fact not true.

May be she truly believes in the product. If so, she decides everyone should own the product. Last year through friends, I met a RN who works part time as an insurance agent in an MLM structured agency. He didn't do it for the money. He did it because he believed in the products that this agency was offering. This RN is a top salesman for this agency, working as a part timer.

Very true, just because a MLM sells something doesn't mean it's crap and just because something is a MLM doesn't automatically mean its a scam.

If you loo at any organization, business structure, etc pretty much everything is technically a pyramid in layout, even most jobs, the managers make a cut off the lower peoples performance.

For anyone involved in internet mearketing or affiliate marketing same thing.

My biggest beef in MLM is you typically cannot make money selling product. I'm good at marketing and sales, i wanna sell stuff. With majority of MLM there is little to no money to be made actually selling the product the MLM is suppoedly based upon but all the focus and all the incentive is to bring in other sales people. I wanna sell stuff, not pester my friends and family and strangers at the grocery store to signup to sell stuff.

You just described a pyramid scheme.
