I wouldn't recommend Jimmy Johns, in my opinion they are in the same boat as Subway or will be soon, they are over expanding way too much.

Firehouse Subs would be a much better choice. I've never heard of those other ones, but I would bet they would be better then Subway. There are lots of great regional chains to look in to.

My recommendation is that unless you're looking to invest in the purchase of 20+ sandwich/sub shops, which would hopefully mean that your research is far more intense than just city-data, then simply avoid the purchase of a single shop.

Better yet, go work at the shop or shops for six months and then re-evaluate. Also, do some research on owning a franchise. In a lot of cases, you're simply paying a lot of money for an under-paying job where you're shouldering all the risk and the Franchisor is reaping all the rewards.
