Quickbooks or some other bookkeeping software, but you need to learn about credit and terms, have late payment penalties and be prepared to make collection calls. If you are serving businesses, most will want to be on account and pay monthly in arrears. Many now prefer emailed invoices, so be sure the software provides the option of saving as a PDF. If starting out real slow, you could do them with Excl, but you must keep good records for 7 years for the IRS and any state/local taxing authorities, for sales tax, or Business and Occupation tax if audited.

NOT by invoicing them.

If you can't get an actual CASH payment when the work is done...
push for a Credit Card payment when the work is done.
Or a check.

Expect to have to do similarly when YOU pay a supplier.
CASH/Credit/Check on the spot.

Your clients will know you're coming on Tuesday afternoon and it'll be $100.
...and that you'll expect payment on completion of the work.

If they don't then it's because you didn't make that clear.
Expect to make it clear as a part of the sales pitch.
---

Five years on... when you're no longer a "small" cleaning service...
you can explore the aggravation of commercial work and the added liabilities
...not least being having to wait for payment by invoicing.
Try to avoid it then as well.
