Tax forms are now designed for people with short attention spans, just like the news articles. Everything of substance gets pushed into the back to where people aren't expected to read or fill out the supporting schedules and worksheets.
It is a shame. Congress wasted a once-in-a-generation chance to simplify The Code. Shrinking the number of tax brackets doesn't simplify The Code just as adding tax brackets does not make it more complex.
I’ll reserve my full comments till after I actually fill it out, but I appreciate that some effort was made to simplify the process and I appreciate the larger standard deduction since I don’t inptemize.
