For years where did you go if you wanted authentic NY style pizza? Sbarros. It was where American families went out together on Friday night as ritual.
But now there seem to be fewer Sbarros. I can only think of one where I live.

What's happening to this great chain?
What?!
Was NEVER great. Was NEVER a ritual. It is mall/airport pizza at best.
elhelmete and MrsLonely summed it up pretty nicely: nothing but frozen cardboard mall and food court product. As malls are following Sears and Blockbuster (and all the typical Mall businesses), don't expect many in the future and certainly do not wager about business opportunities within the mall space.
The latest gambit is to build a super-mall with built-in theme parks (think Disney). These are travel destinations and may or may not pan out.
Sbarro's and Red Baron, hmmmmm, about the same. One you can get in the frozen isle, the other could involve travel to the nearest mall (that's still open). Neither have ever been a great American ritual.
Some people live in locations where there is no good pizza. So Sbarro's is a fair substitute. I don't think it's very good but I live in a foodie city and I understand that other people are in other situations.

Are you sure you're not confusing Sbarros with other pizza place with "A R R O S " on its name?
