QVC built an industry around drop shipping... they put ads on TV and wait for people to order

drop shipping was around long before the internet, only difference is that poor people can finance it now when before they couldnt

QVC takes possession of some of the goods though, so that is technically not a drop shipper.

amazon fulfillment does as well, and people consider that drop shipping

unless you defined it as no inventory until an order is made, then you contract it to the manufacturer and they ship directly to customer, with you only playing the middle man. but this is cost ineffective and goes against the cost saving model based on scale. manufacturer can make a lot since they have multiple people to sell to. but you lose money placing orders one at a time.

Drop shipping assumes you donít handle the goods. Just that simple.
