So, in essence, NOBODY should get better wages because it will just make the cost of things like rent go up? Is that right?

As if the cost of things; food, healthcare, utilities, housing, etc. does not keep rising regardless.

This is a raise being given to workers in a company whose founder is one of the richest billionaires in the world.

many employees said that the loss of their bonus and incentives they had will be more then they gained at 15 an hour now
