Default I want to be "famous", do you have any advice?

Ok, not really. But some of you may have read my market research thread about my business broker business. This is a continued discussion. One thing I notice about business brokers is, they(try to) sell every and any business a business owner wants to sell. Many times the business should not be sold, not every business is worth buying or selling. One thing I want to do is become known or "famous" in my local area for selling a certain kind of business.

I know a guy the only sells Dental practices and I also know a guy that sells Gas stations only, they are known("famous") as the specialsts and therefore they set themselves apart from other business brokers that do not have a "specialty". I want to have a specialty as well but I am unsure what business to sell. I want to sell business that people actually want to buy and not "junck". I will be selling businesses with $2mill to $10mill in anual revs.

Any advice would also be appreciated

Thanks

CR.

It seems to me like there could be a growing market for businesses that are relocatable. You could specialize in finding a business that someone could relocate to where the live, possibly to merge with an existing business.

That might also give you the opportunity to help with the transition. A service like that could be very valuable, especially if the buyer has never purchased a business before.

If you wanted to specialize even further you could work on finding businesses that would complement and expand a company's current business. That way you could have clients that you could assist several times as their business grew by acquisition.

How about motels or restaurants?

Or, become a franchise specialist and help people start their own restaurant chains. All chains (be they restaurants or other types of mall stores) start with one and go from there.
