do you keep your own books for your business
do you hire a CPA do this? we only have one customer, very small business, work from home. we end up using an EA, but I heard CPA does the book keeping. the EA we found will do our tax returns, but I have to do my own booking, is this right? what does your tax accountant do for you throughout the year? Does yours do the book keeping, organizing receipts for you? what do they charge you? thanks for sharing.

Our accountant advises us throughout the year and files our returns for us in April.
We (or me actually) do our own bookkeeping, filing, quarterly tax payments, etc.
In April (March more likely) I turn over a list of our expenses & income for each business we have as well as a personal accounting. I can't even imagine what it would cost to have an accountant sort through receipts.

Our CPA does our sales tax, personal and business tax filing, advises us anytime we have a question.
I do all my own bill paying, use a payroll service for payroll.

Paychex is a national one and also ADP.
I call in the hours and they take out all the taxes etc, then once a month they give me a bill for fed/fica and do the quarterlys etc. They also issue all the W2's and mail them to me.

I do most and a bookkeeper comes in twice a year to clean up whatever I didn't do. Charges $15 per hour.
