what do you do to make extra income (in addition to your day job)?
Looking for options across the entire spectrum...from having a garden and selling your crop at the farmers market to investing in housing/real estate?

I do not have a day job anymore, I am on pension.
We have rental property, right now is a great time to get into rentals
And I am a vendor at a Farmer's Market selling eggs, fiddleheads, honey and veggies.

I'm retired also...
But I play the 5-string banjo in bluegrass bands. I'm not in a band anymore because I'm too old to be out til 3:00 am and later most nights!
But, I'll fill in when a band's regular banjer picker can't make it. I also do some studio work for TV and radio commercials. I won't come out for less than $300 a gig....and it's usually better than that.
Plus, it's great fun!

One of my hobbies is chainsaws. I own approx $6500 worth of pro Stihl & Husky saws. There is always folks that need a limb or tree down, ditto for firewood cutting. I did it for free for years, but lately have started charging. Whatever I can't do I pass along to my arborist friend.
Also, I do barter work. When you know as many local contractors as I do you can almost always get what you need done if you are willing to wait.

google adsense.
Make a website. People visit it. You get paid based on how many people click your ad.
No commitment and you can work whenever you want. Only disadvantage is that there are no guarantees. You could work 100 hours and not make a dime or you could work 100 hours and make thousands.

WE sell specialized sets of books on ebay and make somewhere around 500 per month, net.
However, it has taken a long time to develop the business and you have to stay on top of the market.

I let out the two extra bedrooms at my house. But I'm young and the roomates are in college, and that sort of thing doesn't work for most people.

I have been doing repairs to equipment and offering a Bobcat service. Even have been maintaining private bowling lanes for a couple of local rich families. With the falling economy I am actually doing BETTER than before. If inflation would stop, I would be extremely happy!
