Look into being an S-corp as opposed to being an LLC. You can deduct many expenses you cannot in an LLC through an S-corp but you will be filing a different tax-return (a K1 I believe instead of your normal 1040 with a Schedule C). You will need to analyze costs and benefits in each regarding SS taxes, SEP contributions (remember you will lose your ability to have a 401K by being self-employed). Lotsa lotsa FUN reading!

Happy happy JOY JOY!

It may also help to become a certified bookkeeper...

American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers (AIPB), the bookkeeping profession's association recognizing bookkeeping as a profession and bookkeepers as professionals, and certifying those bookkeepers who meet high, national standards.

Thanks MissShona. Another poster suggested that as well. And I will most definitely do that.
I am thinking about going back to school to take the classes needed to take the CPA exam.
All of your comments and recommendations will be taken to heart.

Tammy Smith is on a distinguished road
Default bookkeping from home books

The best help I found was reading books on bookkeeping from home. The one with the most detail and down to earth style on starting a bookkeeping business was from a book called "How to open your own in-home bookkeeping service 2nd Edition" by Julie Mucha-Aydlott. I got it through Amazon and found it through an article from Paul and Sarah Edwards at entrepreneur magazine.com which linked to the authors website
http://www.inhomebookkeeping.bizland.com she actually responded to my emails and answered my questions even before i bought the book which shocked me. Also, read Successful QuickBooks Consulting also available on Amazon which was really informative as well.

Right now there is a lot of competition because of people getting laid off, so the best suggestion I can make is to make sure you are attentive to your clients needs and network!
Tammy
