Does anyone know where to get women business suits at wholesale prices for resale (retail purposes)? Thanks.

Thomas.

Go to the main branch of your public library, and in the Government & Business section you'll find Thomas manuals on the reference shelf.

Look in the index. It'll be under women's apparel and you'll find dozens of suppliers.

Your best bet is to design and sell your own stuff.

Thank you, Mircea. I did check them out, however they are selling mostly uniforms.

I am looking for designer women suits like Tahara, St. Johns etc. at "discount" prices that can then be sold in another market abroad. I have suggestions on outlet malls in New York or in Manhattan, but do not know exactly where to buy them.

Trade shows. I don't know here you are located but you can check out the schedule for shows at The Javits Center, New York, USA. They have a couple shows every year with apparel. You can probably also go to the web sites for the companies that manufacture the suits and contact them directly. Usually with apparel you have to buy in quantity.

Do you know how much clothes cost? Go to the Banana Republic and see a dress for $200, they paid $0.19 and about $1.24 to import, ship it to a distribution center, then ship it to a store for sale.

If the US is importing clothes from the UAE, Romania, Mexico, Thailand, Philippines, Qatar, Ukraine and other countries for less than $0.20, it'll make it tough for you to compete if your going to buy them here and resell them abroad, especially with the exchange rate.

Having spent most of my adult life in Europe and elsewhere, they're about a year ahead of the US in styles.

That's why I suggested having someone design them for you. You pay them nothing, because they're working on commission so you pay them only if you sell their designs. You can have them made in Malta, Romania or Ukraine and shipped by rail directly to where you want.

You can search on the internet for wholesalers.

You might want to do some market research so you don't get stuck holding the bag.

You can look at Maersk to see about renting shipping containers, and then there's also agents who fill containers (ie you don't have a whole container and neither does Joe-Bob so they marry you up with a couple of people to fill a container). Trans-Atlantic is about two weeks, and trans-Pacific three to five weeks depending on the port.

Just make sure you cover your bases so there's no illusions as to the costs involved.
