Business Idea (fee, pay, house, rent)

I've always wanted some kind of place to hang out with like-minded people and have something more to do on a friday night than the movies, going bowling, hanging out at Barnes & Noble, or at a friend's house.

I'm considering opening up a gay and lesbian center in Little Rock or North Little Rock, AR.

It would have karaoke, meetings, movie nights, dances, etc and would be open on the weekends because I doubt it would get much traffic during the week.

I'm considering a membership fee or simply getting revenue from the different activities such as movie night, karaoke, and dances. Food, gifts, etc would be sold as well.

One of the biggest things to think about is space - where can you set up without having to pay too much in rent, and where you will be zoned properly. It would be hard to have your own dedicated space if you are only operating two nights a week, so look into places that might allow you to set up shop on the weekend evenings. Bars, clubs and catering halls would be out because that is their busy times, so maybe you could try community centers, or space at a local college. I don't know the area but I would imagine that there are places like church halls that would not rent to you on the basis of beliefs. You might think about starting small, maybe once or twice a month until you get enough of a clientele.
