The fact is they say they have no money to last much longer but that is complete different than they were sayign just a month ago and then the bailout bill was passed.I don't see any plan they have presented that would change anythi9ng that has cost them the fortune they have loss in the last year. It will just be throwing money away really is what it loks like to me.They just opened a new plant in russia and they recently announced twenty new models.
Agreed. Like any big corporation, GM and Ford got lazy and quit turning out products that people wanted to buy. They quit making cars and only made big trucks and SUVs and when the market fell out for those, they could not turn it around fast enough.
GM and Ford have made small cars all this time and good ones too. For instance the Ford Focus and Fusion are excellent small cars.

When did GM quit making cars? GM continues to manufacture cars. KevK, THINK before you post.
Cramer? Who takes this clown seriously? He said, don't worry about Bear Sterns, the credit thing means nothing. How is he still on the air? He doesn't have a shred of credibility.
GMJ may make cars but they are not even close to selling enough in the last decades to be a serious contender. They havew since the 70's embargo ended made their money in the US making SUV's. I also think if you look there asre alot that disagree with Cramer and think that GM should go into Cahpter 11 and have tranparency thru the courts. Afteall they just announced hiring increases in India and a new plant in Russia as reported in this forum.
Chrysler was in this situation about 30 years ago, and now they are in the same situation. History repeats itself as you know. I don't necessarily mind loaning them money, but if it happens again in about 30 years, then it's just the same old same old. They have to have a successful business plan to succeed. Where is this plan? I don't hear anyone talking about that. They're only talking about getting enough money to make it through the next day, week, month.
What they should do is have a reasonable length warranty, maybe 5 years, and no cost loaner car of equal or better value if you have to have warranty service done. Because in the end if you buy a car you expect a dependable product and not something sitting in the garage for warranty work.
Don't ALL Chryslers have a lifetime powertrain warranty now? I'm sure that isn't going to bite them in the ass.

Yeah but those aren't enough to prop up the other areas in these bloated companies. For every successful small car they made how many bomb SUV's were produced.
They should have also sold off the other car companies they own,
Ford
(Mazda, Volvo)
I can't even count how many SUV's fall under all these auto makers.
