Manufacturing - Tax Breaks
I work for an Economic Development Centre in Calgary and I am trying to understand whether or not manufacturing companies in the U.S./Europe/Other Provinces get tax breaks for training purposes from federal, state/provincial, and municipal levels.
In Calgary, manufacturing companies (more specifically, small plants) struggle with labour shortages and as a result, find that they fork out money from their own pockets for educational and training purposes. Subsequently, most companies seem to lose their most qualified employees to local headhunters due to the labour struggle.
We understand that there is a niche for high paying employment opportunities and I am inquiring in efforts to help our local companies grow and become globally competitive against the so called “low-labour cost producers” worldwide.
In addition, any other advice on policies and best practices that have worked would greatly assist with my research.
