News, Bush signs bill offering businesses pension relief.
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Bush signed legislation Tuesday that frees businesses from having to pump billions into pension plans in the coming year, another sign of the nation's deepening economic crisis.
The legislation has been a priority of business groups, which say that some companies will have to freeze pension plans, lay off workers or even go bankrupt without the relief.

Oh good God, the reason that there was a law pending to make them put money into their pension accounts is because they weren't, now Bushco gives businesses another bailout. Because when the retirees retire, there will be no money there to retire them, so in comes the Govt to do it (taxpayer).
Will these bailouts never end?

God, I am so sick of Bush and what he's done to this country. January 20 cannot arrive quickly enough for me.

Did you see the list of companies that led that effort ?
Pfizer, IBM, Verizon and Kraft among them..they certainly aren't on the verge of bankruptcy.
Companies Ask Congress for Pension Relief - Planning to Retire (usnews.com)
snippet:
"Roughly 300 companies are lobbying congress to temporarily loosen pension-funding rules. The companies, which span multiple industries and include DuPont, Ford, IBM, GlaxoSmithKline, Kraft, Northrop Grumman, Pfizer, and Verizon Communications, say that fully funding their pensions under current economic conditions will lead to widespread job losses and benefit reductions."

Do you really think Obama would do anything different? Big business influences our government like a puppet.
