Fiat to take 35 percent stake in struggling Chrysler under nonbinding strategic alliance plan


ROME (AP) -- Fiat and Chrysler said Tuesday they have agreed to form a strategic alliance that would give the Italian auto empire a 35-percent stake in the troubled U.S. carmaker and could eventually bring it full control.

FINALLY! Some good automotive news! This is a very good alliance. Chrysler has great trucks and large vehicles, while Fiat has great small car technology. I believe this will be a good attachment in the long run.

I would not mind seeing some of Fiat's cars marketed here in the U.S. either, I have always loved Italian Automobiles.

Hopefully Fiat improved their automotive technology and reliability. I'm saying that because I had a 1978 Fiat X-19 up until 1985, before I got rid of it, and bought a 1984 Ford Mustang GT. The X-19 was THE WORST car I've ever owned, and I could understand why everybody jokingly told me, that Fiat is an acronym for "Fix It Again Tony"..
