Internet business question - need legal advice
I have several retail internet businesses but have an idea for a couple other sites. Who would I speak with to find out if they would be legal? Are there attorneys that specialize in internet business? I've tried to find one but no luck. Or, for example would I contact the DMV for one of my ideas that has something to do with drivers to see if it's ok? Who would I speak with?

I don't really follow you here. You already have several online businesses, and you're asking is having more would be legal? Why would they not be? As long as you pay your taxes and don't co-mingle your personal funds with your businesses, and what you're selling or promoting is legal == what part would be illegal??
As far as attorneys go, they're schooled in contracts and business practices; not sure if any focus entirely on e-commerce, but the contracts and tax law is going to be the same except when it comes to international laws. Then you'd need to consult with an attorney conversant with international law in the country or countries you're having difficulties with, but as a rule, I wouldn't be too concerned.
I just really don't understand your question.

You're right, I wasn't clear. I'll just stick to the one idea...one of the sites I would like to build would not be an e-commerce site, so I wouldn't be selling anything. Where I'm not sure if it would be legal is the info. posted on the site. I'm not putting my idea on here, I just wanted to know what's the best way to find out what is legal to create a site about and what's not.

Sorry (sorry), but that doesn't make any sense to me, either. He was having you do a search, so thousands of sites would come up under "E-Commerce," not just one.
If you're not selling anything, then it's not a business and it's not e-commerce. And if you even marginally think that it might be illegal, I'd stay away from it.

I realize that and the answer is not there but it's ok if you don't understand. Thanks for trying to help. Yes, you can have a site that doesn't sell anything and be a business. In fact there's many ways, what do you think this site is? When I say illegal, I don't mean anything illicit but permitted. I just saw someone mention " cyber law" on T.V., so I'm going to research that and hopefully get my answer.

No; this site is selling advertising. But I take your point.
Good luck!

Information only.....legal......
Without you saying more, what pops up in mind mind is concerns about copywrite infringement/plagarism , privacy violations or libel.
Would searching any of them answer any of your questions?

Not copywrite but question could have something to do with privacy violation. I believe it's public info. but this is what I want to find out. I know by not saying everything here it's sounding shady but it's not. I would't do anything like that and I wish I could just say my ideas on here.
Last night I typed in "Cyber Law" and found some good info. and it looks like there are lawyers that specialize in that. I just have to find one.

I do know that copyright and internet laws internationally, are the hot topics nowadays. I thought of getting an EdD in Educational Technology, and using this for my doctoral thesis. I still might. Also went to law school for a while.
Have you read Thomas Freidman's The World is Flat?
