If it's a young relative, you may want to teach them a lesson....LOL.

I've watched Judge Judy and she is one tough cookie!

They always say, never lend money to family and friends unless it's money you don't need. Most cases they will never pay you back, you'll get excuse after excuse and your friendship will be ruined or your family will be broken up.

Years ago, my older brother wanted to use my credit card to charge his g/f engagement ring. I knew to say NO. The relationship didn't work out and he has since been working/fired/working/fired etc......

It's only $500.00. Is it really worth the hassle of taking it to small claims? You wait around all day long for a few dollars - that you may never see again. Just sayin' ........

In California small claims is $7500.00 or less.

For someone who may have been laid off, or hours cut, that $500 can put food on the table or pay the electric bill.

To you $500 may not seem like a lot, but to most, that means another month of survival for the family.

this is for a legal tenant who owes some rent, and has a guarantor

what can the court do to make them pay?
